Buffalo Wild Wings mocks Red Lobster’s bankruptcy with new bottomless chicken deal

When it comes to wars of values, shots will surely be fired.

On May 13, Buffalo Wild Wings posted an Instagram post about its latest offering: unlimited boneless wings. Every Monday and Wednesday, for a limited time, customers can purchase endless boneless wings dressed with any of the chain’s 26 sauces and seasonings, plus endless fries for $19.99.

To announce the agreement, the chain took the opportunity to overshadow another restaurant that has been making headlines lately: Red Lobster.

“Please don’t put us out of business 🙏,” Buffalo Wild Wings wrote in its caption.

Many Instagrammers took to the comments to accept the challenge, so to speak.

“No promises,” one commenter joked, with another writing, “‘Don’t bankrupt us’ you say…we’ll see who wins this treat 😎.”

“Legend lmao,” said another, acknowledging the wing spot joke. Someone else replied: “Y’all are so shady 😭.”

The caption apparently refers to the recent bankruptcy filing of seafood chain Red Lobster, which announced on May 19 that it had voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 relief in Florida.

Red Lobster admitted in November that its “Ultimate Endless Shrimp” deal ended up hurting the company’s profits. The chain then increased the transaction price from $20 to $25. Red Lobster lost investors in January and began liquidating content from more than 48 locations across the country earlier this month.

Representatives for Red Lobster did not immediately respond to TODAY.com’s request for comment on the Buffalo Wild Wings post.

And while a representative for Buffalo Wild Wings declined to confirm whether the caption was indeed referring to the seafood chain, they doubled down by mentioning another bankruptcy.

“It’s true. All you can eat boneless wings and fries for less than $20 every Monday and Wednesday at B-Dubs,” a representative for the chain told TODAY.com via email. “With Wings On our behalf, we had to offer an unlimited option to our fans, for a limited time. Our fans can rest assured that Buffalo Wild Wings won’t go out of business anytime soon – but we hope all boneless fans keep trying.

If you’re drawn to bottomless Buffalo Wild Wings, there are a few caveats: The offer is only for dine-in customers, cannot be shared among multiple diners, and cannot be combined with any other discounts or offer – the brand says this will void the offer.

Unfortunately, leftovers are not allowed either.

It’s the latest in a series of fast-food and fast-food restaurants that are vying for bargain deals, hoping to lure customers tired of high prices to their favorite spots. And, as chatter surrounds Wendy’s new $3 breakfast and 1-cent burger, and intrigue bubbles over McDonald’s $5 meal, it appears that people’s bank accounts clients could experience deeply desired relief.
