Police identify victims of mass murder in Alabama with 4 dead and 17 injured

Police in the state of Alabama have determined the identities of three of the four victims of a mass shooting over the weekend that left 17 people injured.

The incident occurred Saturday when authorities said several suspects fired shots at a large group of people standing on a sidewalk in a popular nightlife district in Birmingham, Alabama.

Birmingham police said three adult men and one woman were killed in the incident. Police identified the dead as 21-year-old Anitra Holloman, 27-year-old Tahj Booker and 27-year-old Carlos McCain. The fourth adult man has yet to be identified.

When Birmingham Fire Department arrived at the scene, they found Holloman, Booker and McCain lying unconscious on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

UAB Hospital staff pronounced the other male gunshot victim dead at the hospital.

Authorities believe the shooters used machine gun conversion kits during the incident. More than 100 cartridge cases were collected at the scene, police said.

“Investigators believe the shooting was not random, but rather an isolated incident in which multiple victims were caught in the crossfire,” Birmingham police said.

According to the latest police information, no suspects have been arrested.
