Cooler temperatures and lower humidity on the way

A cold front in winter is generally not well received in Michiana. A cold front in late summer, however, is a different story! Starting today, we’re in for a welcome cool down after the heat and humidity of the past week. The front brought some strong storms through parts of our area last night, but they have cleared and things will be calmer from here on out.

Here is your First Alert prediction:

SATURDAY: A mix of sun and clouds throughout the day. Cooler and much less humid, especially in the afternoon hours. High 29°C. Low 16°C. Winds northwest at 8-24 km/h.

SUNDAY: A second cold front arrives, bringing cooler temperatures and windy conditions in the afternoon. HIGH SWIMMING HAZARD at Lake Michigan beaches, with 5-7 foot waves expected. High around 80 degrees F. Low 52 degrees F. Winds northwest at 10-25 mph.

LABOR DAY: Sunny, less humid and cooler. High: 75°

OUR NEXT FIRST ALERT: Labor Day weekend looks fantastic in terms of temperature and humidity — both will be significantly lower than recent times. However, watch for high waves and dangerous rip currents along the coast. Highs above 25 degrees on Sunday and above 25 degrees on Labor Day.
