Buffalo fans will likely be excited to see rookie cornerback Daequan Hardy and undrafted free agent running back Frank Gore Jr. on the team, as both shined in the preseason before being released as part of the team’s 53-man roster cut. Originally drafted as a special teams returner, Hardy didn’t look out of place in that facet of the game in the preseason while also shining as a boundary corner; the team eventually took a different direction at returner, trading Brandon Codrington from the New York Jets. Gore Jr. looked solid throughout the preseason, especially during his 101-yard performance in the team’s final preseason game; both are welcome additions to the practice squad.

Mike White is the only player from outside the organization currently signed to the practice squad. The veteran quarterback has thrown for 2,219 yards, nine touchdowns and 13 interceptions in his professional career. He could serve as the team’s primary backup quarterback in the early weeks of the season, with Mitchell Trubisky currently sidelined with a knee injury.

The practice squad is still subject to change and could be altered as early as the next few days. While not on the initial roster, multiple sources are reporting that former Denver Broncos wide receiver and return specialist Jalen Virgil is expected to join Buffalo’s practice squad. General manager Brandon Beane said Virgil had not yet signed during his media availability on Wednesday, but a signing could be imminent.
