Ten people were involved in a fatal car crash in South Florida on Monday evening, with only one passenger surviving, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

On Monday, August 5, at around 7:30 p.m., rescue workers found a vehicle overturned and submerged in a canal near Belle Glade, with only its wheels sticking out of the water.

Four of the ten passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, six passengers were hospitalized and only one of the six survived.

Where in Florida did 9 people die in a car accident?

According to PBSO, the accident occurred in a canal in the 5800 block of Hatton Highway near Lake Okeechobee and Belle Glade, Florida.

According to reports from WPBF and ABC, a deputy sheriff was also injured while trying to search for survivors in the water.

Did anyone die in the car accident in Belle Glade yesterday?

Yes, nine of the ten people in the vehicle died in the accident.

According to reports from PBSO and local news outlets, four people died at the scene and five of the six people hospitalized also succumbed to their injuries. There was only one survivor.

“The sole survivor, identified as 26-year-old passenger Jorden Hall, remained in serious condition at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach,” the sheriff’s office told the Palm Beach Post Tuesday morning.

“Officials did not release the names of the driver or other passengers, nor did they give Hall’s place of residence.”
