New Atlanta-based studio Space Monster rises from the ashes of Primal Screen

Three former creative directors from now-closed Atlanta-based studio Primal Screen have teamed up to open a new local animation company, Space Monster Studio.

Former Primal Screen creative directors Donald Emerson, Joe Kubesheski and Rob Shepps decided to combine their collective 20+ years of animation experience to launch Space Monster Studio to fill the creative void left behind. “When Primal Screen
“Once the project closed, we knew we had a good deal going, so we figured why not take it to the next level,” Emerson said in a press release.

The sudden closure of Primal Screen Studio in April of this year wiped out the pillar of the local animation industry, known for 30 years for producing on-air brands for networks like Cartoon Network, Sprout and PBS Kids.
