Gordon Ramsay says he was involved in a bicycle accident in the USA

After his bicycle accident in the USA, Gordon Ramsay said he was “lucky to be alive”.

The 57-year-old TV chef posted on social media that he was speaking to the camera and briefly showing his upper body, which was badly injured.

The incident occurred this week in Connecticut and Ramsay took the time to thank the “incredible trauma surgeons, doctors and nurses” at the private state-run Lawrence and Memorial Hospital.

He expressly emphasized that he was “extremely grateful” that wearing a helmet saved his life.

In a post on his Instagram, Ramsay wrote in the caption: “Sound ON and please swipe through….since tomorrow is #FathersDay, I have a very important message for all the dads out there… WEAR A HELMET!”

“This week I had a really bad accident while cycling in Connecticut. I’m OK and didn’t break anything or sustain any major injuries, but I’m a little bruised and look like a purple potato.

“I am grateful to all the doctors, nurses and staff at Lawerence + Memorial Hospital in New London who took care of me and examined me, but I am most grateful for my helmet that saved my life. Happy Father’s Day and take care, Gx.”

In the video accompanying his post, he showed off the huge bruise on his torso that made him look like a “purple potato.”

He said: “I’m happy to be standing here. I’m in pain, it’s been a brutal week, but I’m getting through it somehow.”

Ramsay specifically emphasized the importance of wearing a helmet when cycling.

He said: “I don’t care how short the trip is, I don’t care that these helmets cost money, but they are crucial.”
