More than 35 people were reportedly killed in the attack, while dozens more were injured in the airstrike on a school housing displaced people in the Nuse-irat camp in the central Gaza Strip.

According to some international reports, an Israeli warplane bombed at least three classrooms with rockets.

The Israeli military confirmed that it had “carried out a targeted attack on a Hamas compound” and killed many of the 20 to 30 fighters trapped there.

Hamas condemned the incident as a “horrific massacre.”

Elsewhere, the Israel Defense Forces destroyed a tunnel in Rafah that they said was being used by “terrorists for troop buildup and terrorist activities.”

Secretary General of the Arab League calls for ceasefire

Separately, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States (AL), Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. He made these comments during his meeting with Cyprus’ Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos in Cairo.

Gheit praised Cyprus’ efforts to transport aid supplies from Larnaca to the Gaza Strip via a new sea corridor.

According to the Hamas-run Health Ministry, more than 36,000 people have lost their lives since the war in Gaza began.

The conflict began in October when Hamas gunmen launched a brutal attack on Israel, killing about 1,200 people and taking 252 hostages.
