NCBW® 100 Metro Houston Chapter to Honor Superintendent Goffney with Award – Aldine ISD


The Houston Metro Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. (NCBW® 100) recognizes Aldine ISD Superintendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney for her contributions to education at its 3rd Annual Reception Blackshear-Rockwell Scholarships and Community Heroine Awards.

Goffney took over as head of Aldine ISD in July 2018. She has improved student outcomes in every district she has served, including Aldine ISD, by focusing on early childhood education, literacy, targeted professional development for teachers and community collaboration, including business development. and school partnerships, parent engagement and increased communication. Dr. Goffney has received numerous awards and recognitions for her efforts. The superintendent also believes in maximizing opportunities, developing leaders, and providing opportunities for all students. As a result, Goffney is active in many organizations. The mission of the NCBW® 100 is to advocate on behalf of Black women and girls to promote leadership development and gender equity in health, education, economic empowerment and public policies.

The NCBW® 100’s education advocacy program focuses on eliminating disparities, improving achievement and graduation rates, preparing for career school or college, and promoting of emphasis on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) education at historically black colleges and universities. (HBCU) and access affordability. The organization provides support services that help Black women and girls achieve their educational goals by supporting positive experiences, fostering positive self-perception and self-respect, encouraging educational excellence, and promoting goals positive throughout life to train future leaders.

The reception honoring Goffney and the Houston Chapter Fellows will be held on Saturday June 29 at 12 p.m. at the Houston Room. Participation is by invitation only.

At the reception, Dr. Goffney will briefly speak to the fellows about her journey and encourage them on their journey.
