Woman killed while crossing street in Fayetteville on Saturday night

Authorities said Sunday that a woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Fayetteville the night before.

According to Fayetteville Police, officers responded to a crash near the intersection of Cliffdale Road and Seaford Drive at around 10:04 p.m.

Officers said 63-year-old Rebecca Dunbenit was attempting to cross Cliffdale Road on a mobility scooter when her scooter was struck by an unknown vehicle.

Dunbenit succumbed to her injuries.

According to police, there is no evidence at the crime scene as to the type of vehicle involved, but the investigation is still ongoing.
