Teenagers arrested after fire at former nursing home

Three teenagers have been arrested after a major fire broke out at an abandoned nursing home.

The building, known locally as the Leonard Cheshire Home, in Woburn Street, Ampthill, burst into flames on Sunday afternoon.

Bedfordshire Police closed the road from the rugby club into the town center while crews brought the fire under control.

Officials said three teenagers were arrested on suspicion of arson and released on bail “pending further enquiries”.

They appealed for anyone with information to call 101.
