CITY SC looks to end winless streak in match against Atlanta United at CITYPARK

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – St. Louis CITY SC looks to end a seven-game winless streak with a match against Atlanta United on Saturday at CITYPARK.

CITY nearly took the lead late in the first half after the ball hit the back of the Atlanta net. However, the match’s head referee called the goal back after viewing video of a foul early in the game.

CITY and Atlanta went into halftime scoreless.

In the 50th minute, CITY took the lead thanks to a goal from Indiana Vassilev. João Klauss picked up the assist in the game with a headed pass to Vassilev.

In the 70th minute, Atlanta equalized the score following a rebound from a penalty kick.

CITY and Atlanta United finished the match tied, giving CITY another tie.

Pre-match

This game against Atlanta is a quick turnaround from the team’s 0-3 loss to the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday. The St. Louis team is winless since a game against the Chicago Fire on May 11.

CITY’s starting 11 is a different formation than fans have seen before, with CITY 2 defenders Michael Wentzel and Jay Reid as the starters. CITY have suffered several injuries recently, with four regular players missing because of them. Rasmus Alm, Joakim Nilsson, Tomáš Ostrák and Célio Pompeu are all injured. Kyle Hiebert is also out while playing with the Canadian national team.
