Luxury Western clothing store in Houston suddenly closed ‘until further notice’

Mother-daughter duo Lisa and Chelsea Hostler make sure Houston boys dress in style. They launched ParkerJoe in River Oaks Shopping Center (1965 West Gray). The store presents itself as a junior haberdashery, aimed at boys, from newborns to pre-teens (size 16).

Open since April, the 1,840-square-foot department store expands on the work Holsters does in their shops at Painted Tree stores in Champions and Sugar Land. Billed as one of Houston’s only stores specializing in boys’ clothing, ParkerJoe offers clothing suitable for a wide range of occasions, including sleepwear, play dates, school, and formal occasions . It also offers a range of styles, so boys (and parents) with different tastes will find something to wear.

Shoppers can expect brands like Tiny Whales, Appaman, Bailey Boys, Floafers, Baby Sprouts, Bald Head Blues, Classic Prep, Tiny Trendsetter, Saltwater Boys, Posh Peanut, and more.

In addition to clothing, the store sells lifestyle items including a selection of Texas-themed games, toys, books and stuffed animals.

“It’s a place for kids – and parents – with personality,” Lisa Hostler said in a statement. “ParkerJoe fills a need: There are very few stores offering great boys’ clothing, and shopping online for this age group can be a challenge.”

Before opening the store, Lisa had a successful career in the financial sector and Chelsea spent over a decade in the hospitality industry. The store is named after Chelsea’s six-year-old son, Parker, and Lisa’s husband, Joe. The idea for ParkerJoe was born after Joe’s death, when Lisa moved to be closer to Chelsea. This is influenced by both Parker’s personality and Chelsea’s admitted frustration with buying him.

ParkerJoe is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
