First Alert Weather Day continues this Father’s Day due to extreme heat

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – Our First Alert Weather Day continues throughout Father’s Day as an Extreme Heat Warning is in effect until 8:00 p.m. Sunday.

We have good news! Thanks to a trough pattern in the north, it will be a bit cooler and temperatures will drop back to almost the average level of 40 degrees Celsius for this time of year.

Maximum temperatures of around 40 degrees are expected by Wednesday. Windy weather is expected in the valley, with gusts of up to 40 km/h. Windier weather is expected in the higher elevations, with gusts of up to 72 km/h in the mountain regions.

These strong winds and dry conditions create a high fire risk in northern Arizona.

A wind warning and a forest fire warning are in effect for northern Arizona until Monday evening.

Unfortunately, the slightly cooler weather will not last long. On Thursday, a high pressure area will form over the region and temperatures will rise to over 40 degrees. On Friday, it will even be almost 46 degrees.
