2 dead, 3 injured in brutal head-on collision near LAX

Two people were killed and three others were hospitalized in a serious car accident near LAX airport, police said.

The collision occurred shortly before 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Vista Del Mar and Imperial Highway overlooking Dockweiler State Beach in the LA neighborhood of Playa Del Rey.

A video from the scene of the accident taken by Sky5 shows a major rescue operation; from another perspective, a wrecked white Tesla can be seen next to another SUV that is damaged beyond recognition.

Two of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, Los Angeles police confirmed to KTLA. Of the other three victims, two are said to be in critical condition, while the other is in stable condition.

While none of the victims could be identified, the Los Angeles Fire Department described four of them as an 18-year-old man, an 18-year-old woman, a 16-year-old boy and a 30-year-old woman.

The circumstances of the crash are still being investigated.
