Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens Announce New Brand in Next Phase of Expansion and Renovation

Today, the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens announced a new brand to refresh their identity and align with ongoing and ongoing future renovation and expansion projects. The new brand brings a revitalized look and feel to the nonprofit, including a new logo, updated mission and vision statements, and a refreshed color palette. In addition, the Botanical Garden launched its new website to reinforce its new identity for the future.

“In preparation for the next exciting phase of our evolution, we have looked and reflected on who we are and how we serve and engage our community,” said Mark Mortenson, president and CEO of the County Botanical Gardens from Buffalo and Erie. “With a thriving future, we wanted the brand to reflect the magic we create. I am proud to share our new identity with you.

Over the past year, the Botanical Gardens has conducted extensive research to better understand how the Western New York community interacts with its brand and what its current and future expansion looks like. From its findings, a new brand, mission, vision, core values ​​and positioning statements that more firmly align the organization with its strategic vision for the future were developed.

• Vision Statement: A happy, healthy world transformed by the power of plants.

The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens also unveiled a new website to support their rebranding. The updated website provides visitors with greater access to a significantly improved user experience that includes improved mobile responsiveness, an easier-to-navigate events calendar, and a newer, more in-depth view of the Botanical Garden’s current collections and activities .

“We have thought through everything we offer and remain grounded in our core values: we are fascinated by plants, we create wonder, we respect our planet, we celebrate our heritage and we welcome all,” Mortenson said. “This new look is the start of a multi-year effort to refresh our facilities, our community presence and our relationships with our visitors.

Ongoing improvements inside the historic conservatory will include a new seasonal pollinator exhibit, family play space, enhanced outdoor gardens, new desert, orchid and water garden exhibits, and much more. This summer, visitors will notice brand new interpretive signage throughout the Conservatory, designed to guide them through the collections and engage visitors in a new way. These improvements will further connect visitors with the site’s diverse living collections.

This expansion and renovation project includes more than 14,000 square feet of existing space to be renovated and more than 16,000 square feet of newly added space. The new building will include a large, relocated and accessible visitor entrance; state-of-the-art educational classrooms; modern event spaces; an expanded gift shop; and other essential amenities for visitors. More information about this exciting project will be shared with the community this fall.

The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens opened in 1900. The historic conservatory was designed by Lord & Burnham and is located within a park system conceptualized by Frederick Law Olmstead in the 1800s.

Each year, the Botanical Gardens attracts more than 100,000 guests who visit its historic conservatory and accredited arboretum to explore the live plant collections and exhibits, participate in educational programs, and wander the lush outdoor gardens.
