Chattanooga Police Chief Celeste Murphy under TBI investigation | Local News

Chattanooga Police Chief Celeste Murphy is currently under investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Chief Murphy says An investigation into her place of residence has been initiated. She says she will “cooperate fully.”

Chief Murphy also says she previously opened an internal affairs investigation, which is on hold pending the completion of the TBI investigation.

The TBI spokesman said they are also investigating a complaint of official misconduct against Chief Murphy.

Chief Murphy stated:

“I hope for a quick resolution to both investigations. Due to this ongoing investigation, my statements on this must remain limited.”

A spokesman for the Chattanooga Police Department said Chief Murphy and police are cooperating with the investigation.
