Buffalo State employees have 3 weeks to decide: deal or no deal

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Faculty at Buffalo State University have less than a month to decide whether they will benefit from retirement incentives from the voluntary separation program the university announced last week.

In her address to college faculty and staff, Interim President Bonita Durand said the Buffalo State Foundation would fund the one-time payment to full-time, retirement-eligible employees.

“We have some projected numbers, but we will know more precisely by mid-July who is going to take it,” Durand said in an interview last week. “Sometimes faculty and staff can’t be encouraged because of money: it’s their home, it’s their livelihood, and it’s their job. But we believe the VSP will help us get our workforce to where it should be.
