An “exclusion zone” limits travel to the city center

HOUSTON (CW39) – Houston Mayor John Whitmire says the city is blocking off part of downtown, from Louisiana Street to Travis Street and from McKinney Street to Polk Street – in what he calls an “exclusion zone”.

He says this is where crews will be working to repair broken windows following last week’s deadly storm – and law enforcement will be on hand to prevent people from entering this area.
