Thousands Still Without Power in Houston Area a Week After Beryl

Many Houston-area residents are still suffering from the heat and darkness after Hurricane Beryl swept through Texas last week. As of this morning, more than 267,000 CenterPoint Energy customers were without power. The company has restored power to about 1.9 million people since the hurricane, or about 85% of those affected by outages. CenterPoint hopes to reach the 90% mark by today. The company warns that it may take until July 19 for some areas to be restored.
