Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees Among 6 Teams Expected to Be ‘Aggressive’ at MLB Trade Deadline

The MLB trade deadline is fast approaching and there are plenty of rumors swirling about teams like the New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves. Not only are the Yankees and Braves hot topics in MLB rumors, but they could also be some of the busiest teams this summer.

Atlanta and New York are both in playoff contention in MLB, but both clubs have had extended down periods. That has helped shape how each team’s front office views their rosters, and it appears to dictate how aggressive the Yankees and Braves will be at the trade deadline.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, MLB general managers believe the teams that will be most aggressive ahead of the MLB trade deadline are the San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners, Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, Braves and Yankees.

Aggressive general managers don’t necessarily mean there will be a lot of blockbuster trades. The league is less confident that the Chicago White Sox will trade Luis Robert. On the pitching side, the number of teams in the playoff race further reduces the quality and quantity of starting pitchers available.

Some of the other big-name players who have been the subject of MLB rumors — Jesus Luzardo, Tyler Anderson and Mason Miller — are also unlikely to be traded. In reality, White Sox starting pitcher Garrett Crochet is the best player available and after that, there is a slight drop-off in terms of value.

Unsurprisingly, most of the teams expected to be the most aggressive at the MLB trade deadline have the best recruiting systems. Many of those clubs are also looking for similar things.

The Dodgers, Padres and Braves have been linked to several starting pitchers being traded this summer and will be exploring the market for relievers. Meanwhile, the Yankees and Mariners are both looking for a corner infielder to improve their run production.

It would be surprising if these six teams didn’t at least make a move to add another player to their roster. However, the majority of the attention will be on the Yankees, Phillies and Dodgers, who are battling to become World Series favorites.
