Kingston man arrested for assault and burglary, police say – Daily Freeman

KINGSTON, NY — A Kingston man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly attempting to break into a home on Franklin Street, according to Kingston police.

Police said that just before 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, a robbery was reported in the area of ​​Broadway near Liberty Street, where a 54-year-old man was injured by an unknown person. A few hours later, at 11:30 a.m., police received a report of another incident in the same area where a second victim was found. That victim did not sustain any injuries.

According to Kingston police, during the second incident, a 911 call came in reporting a person with a knife attempting to break into a home on Franklin Street. Police found 37-year-old Christopher Thomas Braun hiding under a tarp in the backyard of the home. Police said Braun was arrested and identified as the suspected suspect in both the burglary and the two previous assaults.

Braun was charged with assault, illegal possession of a weapon, and burglary, all felonies, as well as a misdemeanor for illegal possession of a weapon. Braun was arraigned and taken to the Ulster County Jail.
