Stefon Diggs is speaking out a day after a reporter’s on-mic comments criticizing his professionalism surfaced online.

“The audio shared was very hurtful,” the Buffalo Bills star, 29, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday. “And it was insulting to my character and the way I was raised. I have always treated people the way I would like to be treated. I greet everyone with a smile and respect. From the people in our cafe to the people who keep our building clean and tidy. »

He continued in another post: “The media or fans may confuse my competitiveness that they witness on the field with who I am as a person. But off the field, I will never treat anyone the way she did described and I’ve never said anything close to that about her.”

The wide receiver’s response was a clip online in which Bills team reporter Maddy Glab could be heard sharing her apparent frustration with the star.

“There’s no control over Stefon Diggs,” Glab said. “Dude is going to do what he wants to do. He’ll look me in the face and say (f—) you…that’s how he treats everyone.”

Wednesday, the journalist apologized to the athletesaying Diggs is “one of my favorite players to cover.”

“I am truly sorry for what I said and I meant no ill will,” she wrote. “I respect Stefon Diggs tremendously, and he has been one of my favorite players to cover. He has a great character and treats the media with great respect. »

She added in part: “He takes time out of his day to talk to us, which he doesn’t have to do. For context, the media was waiting for players to come in for press conferences when a reporter jokingly told me to go get Stefon Diggs. I said I had no control over him – Stef marches to the beat of his own drum and I love that about him.

Glab has worked as a team reporter for the Bills since July 2019, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Meanwhile, Diggs later issued his own apology, writing to the media at large: “We’re all giving you a job. And I respect that, but don’t forget that I’m a human just like you. What if I’ve ever made you or anyone else feel like you can’t approach me. I apologize.”

In all of those cases, at least one other Diggs didn’t dig the exchange.

Posting the audio from Glab’s hot mic, little brother and Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs had his own opinion.

“Uh!” They come after you so fast,” he wrote. “I need to go somewhere safe, bro.”
