Former Houston Astros GM’s Wife Celebrates Team’s Recent Fall

The Houston Astros got a day off after a disappointing end to the series against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.

It’s been an interesting year for the Astros as nothing has gone as planned.

Whether it’s terrible injury luck, poor play, or the inability to string together long winning streaks, this doesn’t sound like the same team that’s been to seven championship series back-to-back American League titles and was one win away from another World Series appearance.

There are real questions about whether Houston will be able to figure things out under first-year manager Joe Espada, to the point where they are constantly being discussed as potential trade candidates.

But it seems like there’s one person who isn’t upset with how this season has gone for the Astros.

Wife of former Houston GM Jeff Luhnow posted about her social media account in response to a question about what’s wrong with this franchise by saying: “Simple answer: Jim Crane fired Jeff Luhnow. Karma sucks.”

Gina Luhnow was there with her husband after being hired by owner Jim Crane to become the team’s general manager after Crane purchased the franchise in 2011.

After years of prolonged rebuilding, it was under Luhnow’s leadership that Houston was able to draft the cornerstones of its franchise, which helped the team win its first-ever World Series championship in 2017 and begin its streak of consecutive ALCS appearances, an AL record.

But in 2020, the general manager was fired after the sign-stealing scandal came to light.

Despite denying any knowledge of the affair, Crane still decided to fire him and his manager AJ Hinch, issuing a statement saying: “Neither of them started this, but neither of them started this. ‘did nothing about it.”

It seems Gina still isn’t happy with how her husband’s tenure ended, as she wasn’t done posting. his thoughts on social media.

When a fan pointed out that the Astros won a championship after her firing, she responded by saying, “Who do you think prepared them for years of success? The well finally ran dry and there has no one to tell them how to fill it out, don’t be offended,” with a winking emoji at the end.

She seems to be right at the moment.

Houston has continually sent its top prospects in search of another World Series title, and while it worked for them in 2022, it allowed them to have what is considered the worst farm system in all of baseball .

Their current general manager, Dana Brown, was apparently hired to address these issues because of his scouting experience, but there are questions about whether he’s actually the only person to step up to the plate for this franchise.

It will certainly be interesting to see what the Astros look like going forward with a few of their superstar players expected to hit free agency in the coming years.
