Gunman hijacks Atlanta bus, shoots passenger

An Atlanta man is under arrest after leading police on a harrowing and dangerous chase on a commuter bus.

Joseph Grier, 39, used a gun to hijack the bus and take its 17 passengers hostage.

When police arrived on the scene, Grier forced the driver to lead a pursuit that led the bus to hit several vehicles before authorities were able to disable it.

One of the passengers was taken to hospital and later died from a gunshot wound received during the incident.

Grier was charged with one count of murder, one count of hijacking a motor vehicle, 13 counts of aggravated assault, 14 counts of kidnapping and two counts of gun possession .

The suspect is a convicted felon with 19 prior arrests under his belt.
