Dispute over roommate in North Phoenix ends in murder and suicide, police say

PHOENIX – Two men were found dead in their north Phoenix home Saturday, and evidence points to murder followed by suicide, Phoenix police said.

At around 11:15 p.m., officers were called to a shooting at a home near Greenway Road and Tatum Boulevard. When they arrived, police spoke with the caller, who said her boyfriend was found shot to death inside the home. The caller said she may have heard another gunshot coming from the home, authorities said.

After officers secured the area, they found 44-year-old Ryan Liming dead from a gunshot wound and 55-year-old James Quinn dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

After collecting evidence and speaking to witnesses, investigators believe there was an argument between the two victims earlier that evening. The evidence suggests that Liming and Quinn were roommates.

According to police, Quinn later shot Liming, killing him before shooting himself.

Since the case is not yet closed, investigators are continuing to process the evidence.
