Fatal crash on East Freeway under investigation by Houston police |  News

Houston, TX — A fatal crash that occurred on the East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) around 9:05 a.m. today (May 31) is currently under investigation by Houston Police.

The identity of the deceased man, believed to be approximately 30 years old, has not yet been verified by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. According to reports from Sergeant L. Ross of the HPD Vehicle Crimes Division and Officer L. Ho, the driver of a white Nissan Maxima was westbound near the crash site behind a Blue Volvo semi-trailer truck. The Nissan failed to maintain its lane, spun out of control and collided with the rear of the 18-wheeler.

The driver of the Nissan was rushed to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the 18-wheeler, who remained at the scene, was questioned and then released.
