Houston Astros state the obvious after another disappointing series result

It seems like these are the same statements emanating from the Houston Astros clubhouse throughout this disappointing campaign that now sees them seven games under .500 after losing a road series to the San Francisco Giants .

There is still time to put things right, but time is running out.

The Astros are one of the more interesting teams to watch around the trade deadline. They felt like they went all-in on winning another World Series title this year after going over the luxury tax for only the second time since Jim Crane took ownership.

The results were fleeting, but that didn’t dampen the Astros’ optimism.

However, it’s getting to a point where actions speak louder than words, and right now there seems to be more of the latter than the former.

The same can be said Wednesday after another series loss.

“I think it’s a huge month for us. We have to play good baseball. I believe in these guys here. Every guy here busts their tail every day. Obviously we have to be better than we have been , and everyone here knows that and is working towards it,” star third baseman Alex Bregman said according to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com.

Again, it sounds good, and it’s certainly the right thing to say, but at some point, words have to turn into results.

Houston’s six-game winning streak, which occurred May 12-17, seems far in the rearview mirror after going 11-13 since.

If the Astros want to figure it out, they need to start doing it now.

They’ve only played 69 games in their 162-game schedule, so they have time in this long year to find their rhythm, as Bregman suggests.

Houston will have that opportunity starting Friday after its day off when it hosts the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox for six games.
