1 dead after serious crash at Highway 85 and 56th Avenue in Commerce City

One person is dead after a vehicle was struck by an SUV on Highway 85, according to Commerce City police.

Police say the driver reported dead ran a red light and the SUV turning onto 56th Street struck the rear of the vehicle, which landed on a guardrail.

Both adult men were taken to hospital in critical condition following the accident. At approximately 2:07 p.m., Commerce City Police released an update via X that one of the drivers had died while one remained in critical condition.
