Flooding and Severe Weather Threats in Houston Today, Here’s When They’ll Happen! ⛈️

Our weather is quiet Thursday morning, but it’s not going to stay that way.

Threat of flooding and severe weather today:

This afternoon, a line of powerful thunderstorms is moving toward Southeast Texas, particularly toward our northern region.

The highest likelihood of flooding and severe weather in Houston is around 10 p.m. However, a flash flood watch is in effect from 1:00 p.m. today until 7:00 a.m. Friday morning. We also face a serious weather threat. Hail, damaging winds and a tornado or two are possible.

Things kick off at 3:00 p.m. when you’ll see some incredibly severe thunderstorms start to form in our northwest cities.

They will head east. So, the general direction to go home after work will be inconvenient. There may also be a few severe thunderstorms, but the heaviest rain with potential for severe weather and flooding will occur north of us.

It really isn’t until 10:00 p.m. that the line of severe weather begins to move toward the Houston area and the Beltway. This is our greatest chance of facing severe weather and then flooding. And then the storms then move south. And they stay there until Friday morning.

Other possible storms on Friday:

We have a final round of rain that continues through Friday. The highest risk for more storms is south of I-10. But all of Southeast Texas faces minor flooding and severe weather risks.

In short, you just have to be aware of bad weather and possible flooding.

10-day forecast:

Starting this weekend we are heading towards much more stable weather. No storms are expected next week. But this pattern is much more of a summer pattern with heat and humidity through Saturday of next week.
