Has the dealership outage reached Central Missouri? | Central Missouri News

Several car dealerships in central Missouri say they have been affected by the cyber incident at CDK Global that received national media coverage, which could hurt sales during the car-buying season. The problem began Wednesday.

CDK Global’s software is used by 15,000 auto dealers across the country and Canada, and the outage could last through the weekend, CNN reported Thursday. CDK operates many different products that auto dealers use to do their jobs, including recording deals, scheduling and communicating service, CNN reported.

Joe Machens Toyota in Columbia hopes to restart its computer system sometime next week, an employee told KOMU 8 on Friday. The employee said the incident affected several Joe Machens dealerships.

However, the outage has not affected all dealers. Jim Butler Chevrolet in Linn told KOMU 8 that his company was not affected.

A CDK spokesperson told CNN that the company is actively investigating the incident.

“Out of an abundance of caution and concern for our customers, we have shut down most of our systems and are working diligently to get everything back up and running as quickly as possible,” spokeswoman Lisa Finney told CNN.
