Match Preview |  St. Louis CITY2 returns home for rematch with Houston Dynamo 2

St. Louis CITY2 (8-2-2, 27 points) returns to CITYPARK for a Western Conference match against Houston Dynamo 2 (2-5-4, 11 points). The match kicks off at 6:00 p.m. CT on Sunday, June 16 and will be streamed on the MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.

CITY2 and Dynamo 2 will face each other for the second time this season. In their previous meeting, Houston won 2-0 on May 22 at Sabercats Stadium. Since then, CITY2 has been on a three-game unbeaten streak, picking up wins against Town FC, Colorado Rapids 2, and Tacoma Defiance.

After having the weekend off, CITY2 looks to pick up where they left off on Thursday with a 1-0 shutout of Defiance. The game in Tacoma was a complete team effort that saw John Klein extend his scoring streak to four goals and Christian Olivares get his third clean sheet of the season. Ryan Becher picked up his first assist of the season in the match. Caden Glover made his first appearance for the team since March 31 against SKC II.

Houston drew 2-2 against Sporting Kansas City II in their match on Friday, with SKC II winning on penalties. Dynamo is led by striker Exon Arzu who has three goals this season. Midfielder Ousmane Sylla leads the team in assists with four. Sylla scored his first professional double in Friday’s match.

CITY2 sits in second place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference standings. The team leads the league with the most away wins this season (5) and have won seven of their last eight matches. St. Louis conceded the second fewest goals in the league (11). With a win on Sunday, CITY2 could move into first place in the league and into first place in the Western Conference standings.
