Colchester police have arrested a suspect accused of shooting a man near Mallets Bay. According to police, officers responded to reports of a shooting on Sharrow Circle on May 26. When officers arrived, they found the 31-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was taken to UVM Medical Center. At this time, police have not identified any possible suspects. On Monday, Colchester police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Chittenden County Gun Violence Task Force executed a search warrant on a residence on Central Street in Essex Junction. They arrested 19-year-old Sami Ettouzar of Essex Junction. Ettouzar faces several charges, including attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, carrying a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of stolen property and driving without a license. According to police, Ettouzar is being held without bail at the Northwest State Correctional Facility.
