Houston Texans’ CJ Stroud helps residents affected by deadly storm

As hundreds of thousands of people still recover from Thursday’s devastating storm, Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud reached out.

On Sunday afternoon, Stroud spent time with residents, helping them clean and donating essential items. He even found time to play catch with the neighborhood children, leaving pleasant memories in a time of anxiety.

Thursday’s storm killed seven people and left millions without power in the city. At a news conference Sunday morning, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo described the storm as “a hurricane or one of Mother Nature’s worst tragedies.”

Since joining the Texans as the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Stroud has put down roots in the city. In February, he participated in the Cactus Jack HBCU Celebrity Softball Classic at Minute Maid Park. He helped the foundation raise money for the Waymon Webster Scholarship Fund while helping HBCU scholars access educational resources to succeed.

While leading the Texans to a 10-7 regular season record in 2023, Stroud launched the CJ Stroud Foundation and hosted several events to help the community. In December, Stroud and his foundation hosted a Christmas toy drive with Lily’s Toy Box.
