Construction worker killed in campus accident – ​​WGAU

The investigation into the death of a construction worker killed on the University of Georgia campus continues: According to UGA police, the worker, who was employed by a Watkinsville-based company, was struck by a piece of machinery while he was at a steam pipe between the university’s Miller Learning Center and the Tate Student Center. His name has not yet been released.

A man has died in a construction accident on the University of Georgia campus.

Shortly before 10 a.m. Friday, university police officials said an employee of IMI Construction in Watkinsville was working on a steam line project on campus when he was accidentally struck by construction equipment.

UGA Police, Athens-Clarke County Fire and EMS and National EMS responded to treat the worker, whose identity was not released.

He was taken to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

It’s unclear what led to him being hit by one of the machines and whether anyone could face charges.
