After a Delta flight was diverted due to spoiled food, the airline is again changing some meal options in Economy Class

NEW YORK – Delta Air Lines has canceled some meals on up to 75 of its international flights for the second day in a row.

Delta apologizes and says the incident is being investigated

On Wednesday, the pilots of Delta Flight 136 requested medical personnel at the gate before making their emergency landing around 4 a.m.

There were 277 passengers on board. More than a dozen became ill after eating the spoiled, moldy food. Passengers reported that the pilot announced in the cabin that the chicken was contaminated.

Despite the emergency landing, none of the passengers required additional assistance.

Delta provided hotel rooms and meal vouchers to passengers and said in a statement that its “food safety team has instructed our suppliers to immediately isolate the product and initiate a thorough investigation into the incident.”

“This is not the service Delta is known for, and we sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and delays to their travels,” said Lisa Hanna, Delta corporate communications spokeswoman.
