The Astros led 14-4 after seven innings, then held on after the Orioles scored seven runs in the eighth.

“We wanted to do things a different way in the end of course, but at the end of the day it’s a win,” manager Joe Espada said.

Houston set a scoring record this season, a day after the Orioles produced their highest-scoring game of the year in a 17-5 win over the Yankees.

The Astros trailed by 1 and had two runs with two outs in the fifth inning when Meyers sent a pitch from Grayson Rodriguez (8-3) into the left field seats to make it 5-3.

Henderson’s first homer was a solo shot in the seventh. Henderson, Jorge Mateo and Anthony Santander each hit two-run homers in Baltimore’s seven-run eighth.

“It just shows you what we’re capable of offensively, we’re never out of the game. … It was just a little too many points to come back from,” manager Brandon Hyde said. “It was a hell of a fight.”
