Summary | Djordje Mihailovic records 10th goal contribution in 10 games as Rapids lose to Houston 3-1 away

The Colorado Rapids (6-6-4, 22 pts.) lost on the road, 3-1, against Houston Dynamo FC (6-6-3, 21 pts.) at Shell Energy Stadium on Wednesday evening. Djordje Mihailovic found the back of the net on a penalty rebound in the second half, but contributions from Amine Bassi, Latif Blessing and Sebastian Kowalczyk earned the home side the win.

Ready for its second of three matches in eight days, Colorado was eager to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Houston earlier this season. With the starting XI experiencing a slight shake-up from the previous match, Jasper Löffelsend, Sebastian Anderson and Connor Ronan all looked to give the Rapids some much-needed energy during this stretch of matches.

To begin with, both teams exchanged chances early on to try to open the score in the match. Multiple chances from Rafael Navarro and Kévin Cabral showed off the Rapids’ abilities on the offensive end, but Dynamo would eventually strike first in the 40th minute.

After a mix-up on the right wing, Houston defender Griffin Dorsey played a cross around the edge of the penalty area to Bassi, who found the back of the net with one touch to put his team within a point.

Colorado had several chances to tie before the halftime whistle, but the equalizer would have to wait until the 49th minute.

The Rapids had their best chance of the match following a penalty taken by Cabral after the striker took a quick touch around the goalkeeper. Navarro fired a powerful shot that was stopped by Houston’s Tarbell, but Mihailovic was there to collect the rebound and bring Colorado back into even terms.
