2 dead after shooting in Los Angeles harbor area

Two people are dead after a double shooting outside the San Pedro Adult Learning Center on Thursday.

Authorities confirmed to KTLA that Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to reports of the shooting at Santa Cruz Street and Meyler Street shortly before 4 p.m.

Medical personnel from the Los Angeles Fire Department also arrived at the scene after requesting two ambulances and a shelter to cover the deceased while detectives investigate the scene.

Very few details are available and it is unclear exactly how the shooting unfolded, but a video posted on the Citizen app shows police and firefighters standing on the sidewalk next to a victim who was already covered with a blanket.

The second victim was taken to hospital in serious condition and was later pronounced dead.

Aerial footage of the crime scene from Sky5 showed a heavy police presence shortly before 6pm as homicide detectives were busy collecting evidence.

No further details about the shooting were released.
