Girgensons and Olofsson leave Buffalo – The fourth period

Zemgus Girgensons spent his entire 10-year NHL career with the Buffalo Sabres, but with the summer approaching without a new contract, it may be time to move on and explore future options elsewhere.

Victor Olofsson also played his entire six-year NHL career with the Sabres, and his future seems clearer, as he will look to join a new club this summer.

The Sabers have just over $23.2 million in salary cap space for the 2024-25 season and will look to add a top-six winger and a third-line center this offseason, as previously reported by David Pagnotta of TFP.

Sabers general manager Kevyn Adams is expected to be active this summer as he looks to strengthen his roster for next season and there is growing belief that he will consider moving the 11th overall pick in the draft. NHL next month if the right deal for an immediate upgrade presents itself. .

Olofsson, 28, will become a free agent and is expected to find a new home in July, his agent Claude Lemieux confirmed to TFP.
