Grace Christian Academy Hires Tennessee Alumnus Cedric Houston

The Grace Christian Academy football team has hired former Tennessee Vols running back Cedric Houston as its running backs and defensive backs coach.

He had been an assistant coach at his alma mater, Clarendon High School in Arkansas.

Houston played for UT from 2001-04 and rushed for over 1,000 yards in his final season. He also averaged 5.6 yards per carry and had eight rushing touchdowns that year. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound running back totaled 2,634 career rushing yards and averaged 5.3 yards per carry.

Houston joins a Rams team that is entering its first year under coach Justin Price and his twin brother, Matt, who will serve as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator. The duo spent 13 seasons at Campbell County.

Grace Christian Academy was 3-7 in 2023 and 8-22 overall over its last three seasons.

Houston was selected by the New York Jets in the sixth round, 182nd overall, in the 2005 NFL Draft. He played 20 games in 2005 and 2006 and stepped away from the sport for personal reasons. During the 2005 NFL Draft, it was learned that he had a previously undiagnosed thyroid problem that was draining his energy.
