Arrest in the course of the arson investigation

LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) – Kentucky State Police have made an arrest in connection with an ongoing arson investigation.

On Sunday, KSP Post 11 London was notified of a structure fire involving a single-family home. Evidence was found that the home had been robbed and then set on fire to cover up the crime.

Police determined that suspect Billy J. Swafford, 47, of London, disabled his home’s alarm system and stole several items totaling over $10,000.

Swafford was charged with first-degree arson, second-degree burglary, and possession of burglary tools. Swafford is being held at the Laurel County Correctional Center.
