ISP investigates death of 23-year-old Miami Correctional Facility inmate

MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) – The death of an inmate at the Miami Correctional Facility is currently under investigation by the Indiana State Police (ISP), detectives announced Tuesday.

ISP detectives told the Peru Post they were contacted by state prison administration shortly before 2 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, to investigate the death of 23-year-old David R. Eggert.

Police say the Miami County Coroner’s Office and investigators from the Miami Correctional Facility are assisting with the case. An autopsy is pending to determine Eggert’s exact cause of death.

According to investigators, the man’s family has been notified and the incident remains under investigation.
