Suspect killed, officers injured during arrest in Logan

LOGAN, Utah (ABC4) – Two officers were injured and a suspect was killed when officers attempted to arrest a man in Logan Wednesday afternoon Logan Police Department.

According to police, investigators with the Logan Police Department made contact with a man during an investigation and attempted to arrest him. The man reportedly “produced a firearm” after he began resisting arrest and fired at officers at close range, police said.

After the man shot at officers, one of the officers returned fire.

“Despite immediate life-saving efforts by officers on scene, the individual was pronounced dead by medical personnel,” police said in a statement Press release.

Two Logan PD officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. According to police, they have since been released.

The incident is currently being investigated by the Northern Utah Critical Incident Protocol Team. Once the investigation is complete, the Cache District Attorney will release an analysis.

“The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal review of the incident,” Logan police said in the news release.
