A man is in critical condition but is expected to survive after police say he was chased home and shot during an apparent road rage incident in Cañon City.

Cañon City police said Monday that officers responded to the shooting on East Main Street around 8:15 p.m. Saturday. They found a victim with a gunshot wound to the chest who was eventually flown to Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs for treatment.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle while an initial investigation revealed the incident was due to road rage. Troy Richardson, 65, turned himself in to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the incident.

Richardson was arrested on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, menacing, reckless endangerment and harassment.
