Police seek suspect in attempted rape – NBC New York

Police in Manhattan are searching for a man who allegedly attempted to rape a woman near a popular Upper East Side gym.

New York police said a woman reported an attack near the corner of East 76th Street and Second Avenue shortly before midnight Friday night.

Police said they found the 27-year-old victim with cuts to her head. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The suspect fled after the attack on a two-wheeler. His clothing included an orange shirt, light brown shorts and sneakers.

A witness said he and another Good Samaritan offered her a safe place to hide and chased the attacker away. Police did not immediately confirm further details of the incident.

There are no reports of arrests.
