Sozoua concept of Chef Fuyuhiko Itois expected to open in spring 2025. It will take shape on the ground floor of 1020 Spring at Spring Quarter, a mixed-use development located in downtown Atlanta.

New renderings show the space’s design inspired by nature. The interior will feature a palette of earthy materials, including porcelain, ceramic, stone, marble and wood. The decor begins with an outdoor arrival experience to provide guests with a transition between the mixed-use campus and the restaurant. A bar then welcomes customers upon their arrival.

There will be 22-foot-high ceilings, a dedicated sushi counter and an indoor-only bar. Two private dining rooms, Sakura and Hana, are located on the mezzanine level and are designed to accommodate a variety of special occasion events.

“As soon as you enter Sozou, you embark on a sensory adventure, with flavors that delight the taste buds and an environment that delights the eyes,” said Chef Ito. “Dining at Sozou means leaving the ordinary behind and becoming part of a culinary journey that transports you to an oasis of tranquility and sophistication. This will be a whole new dining experience for Atlanta.

Lazzoni Atlanta Furniture and international design firm Studio PMTA design, build and furnish the restaurant.

The team will also debut Omakase at ISHIN by Ito on the 8th floor rooftop of 1020 Spring, offering an intimate omakase dining experience to private guests at a 14-seat counter.

Bringing Chef Ito back to Atlanta is a significant win for the city’s culinary scene, and Spring Quarter is where his vision for Sozou can come to fruition,” said Dotan Zuckerman, head of retail development for Portman. “A culmination of Chef Ito’s work and culinary mastery, Sozou is an important catalyst for the creation of a new chef-led dining district in Midtown at Spring Quarter. »

Spring Quarter also includes the historic HM Patterson House and Gardens. Portman tapped Steve Palmer, the founder of The Indigo Road Hospitality Group, to create a day-to-night dining experience in the building. Portman added paseos and patios throughout Spring Quarter to connect the skyscrapers to the Patterson Gardens and street-level retail.

The mixed-use community also includes Sora, a 370-unit luxury residential tower opened last year. Sora has nearly 13,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space, including Pepper boxingan Atlanta-based cardio-boxing class that is now open, and Habanerosa recently announced Mexican urban concept.

Portman will complete key elements of Spring Quarter in the third quarter of 2024.
