Wanted man from Auburn arrested after fleeing accident

STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – Auburn man flees on foot after two-vehicle crash in Steuben County.

Steuben County Sheriff’s officers responded to CR 700 W and CR 400 S before noon Saturday for a report of a two-vehicle crash. According to a news release, initial reports indicated that one of the drivers involved fled on foot.

When officers arrived, they found two vehicles with severe collision damage.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a white 2018 Ram 1500 truck was traveling south on CR 400 W and approaching the intersection with 700 S. The driver was entering the intersection when a white 2001 Ford Mustang turned left from CR 400 W onto CR 700 S and drove directly into the path of the Ram pickup.

The two collided almost at a right angle, officials said.

Nobody was injured in the accident

The driver of the Ram pickup was identified as 30-year-old Andrew Lundgren of Angola. The driver of the Ford Mustang fled the scene on foot. Sheriff’s officers searched the area but were unable to locate the fleeing driver.

During the preliminary investigation, the vehicle owner was identified, but it was unclear whether he was the driver who had fled the scene of the accident.

After following up on tips and leads, the Sheriff’s Office was able to identify the driver as 23-year-old Colton Taylor of Auburn.

Taylor was arrested on a warrant in Auburn sometime after the accident. MyCase shows that Taylor has a long criminal history. During an interview with the sheriff’s office, it was determined that the Ford Mustang actually belonged to Taylor.

The case remains under investigation as charges are being brought in connection with the hit-and-run. It is unclear if there were any injuries in the accident.
