Here are all the current allegations against him

Top line

In a 2016 surveillance video released by CNN on Friday, Sean “Diddy” Combs was seen physically assaulting a former partner who had sued him for abuse. The latest controversy involved the rapper facing a search of his home by federal agents and multiple civil lawsuits since November accusing him of sex trafficking, sexual abuse and rape – all of which he has denied.

Important facts

In surveillance video from 2016, Combs appears to be grabbing, dragging and kicking Casandra Ventura, consistent with some allegations made in a lawsuit filed by Ventura and settled by Combs last year, which alleged Ventura attempted to kill more to escape physical abuse from the rapper at a hotel. He grabbed her and threw glass vases at her (the lawsuit did not mention that Combs dragged and kicked Ventura, as the video appears to show).

Combs’ homes in Los Angeles and Miami were searched by Homeland Security Investigations agents in March as part of an investigation that the agency did not elaborate on. However, NBC News and the Associated Press reported that the searches resulted from a sex trafficking investigation (Combs did not do this). have been charged or accused of a criminal offense by the Federal Prosecutor’s Office).

The rapper has faced a series of lawsuits, starting when he was sued on November 16 last year by Ventura, a singer and dancer who claimed Combs raped her in 2018 and subjected her to a years-long abusive relationship that included punching, kicking and trampling included trampling on her and asserting “complete control” over her personal and professional life.

Ventura’s $30 million lawsuit against Combs was settled later that month for an undisclosed amount, with Ventura telling CNN it had decided to “settle this matter amicably,” while Combs’ attorney said the settlement was ” “in no way an admission of wrongdoing” and did so. Nothing will change in his denial of the allegations.

Later in November, a woman named Joie Dickerson-Neal alleged in a lawsuit that Combs drugged her, sexually assaulted her and secretly recorded the assault when she was a student in 1991.

Separately, in November, an anonymous plaintiff accused Combs and singer-songwriter Aaron Hall of raping her and a friend in 1990 or 1991 after they met at an MCA Records event in New York – a lawsuit as well as the Dickerson-Neal’s lawsuit, filed shortly thereafter, was filed before the expiration of a New York law that temporarily allows lawsuits over older personal injury allegations that would normally be past the statute of limitations.

In December, Combs was charged again with sexual assault. The rapper was accused of using drugs and being involved in a gang rape of the unnamed accuser in 2003, when the accuser was 17 years old.

The latest lawsuit against Combs was filed last month by producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, who sued the rapper in New York, claiming he was “subjected to unwanted advances from Diddy’s associates at his direction” and forced into relationships with sex workers, that he hired.

In a series of widely publicized allegations, Jones’ lawsuit alleges that Combs regularly hosted “sex trafficking parties” involving underage women and illegal drugs, and implies that record company executives who looked the other way were financially deprived of access to celebrities and dignitaries such as the British The royal family benefited Prince Harry, who is not accused of any wrongdoing or attending parties himself (Combs’ lawyer told the Los Angeles Times that the lawsuit involves “reckless naming of events that are pure fiction and simply weren’t”).

Cons

Combs, 54, has denied all allegations made against him. His lawyers described some of the lawsuits and their allegations to Forbes as a money grab, “baseless” or “disgusting.” Combs has not been criminally charged.

tangent

Cindy Rueda, Combs’ former personal chef, accused Combs in a now-settled 2017 sexual harassment lawsuit of having her prepare and serve food to the rapper and his guests while they were engaging in sexual activity or immediately afterward.

Important background

The allegations contained in the lawsuits against Combs date back to the 1990s, when he founded his own record label, Bad Boy Records. Ventura’s lawsuit, which covers some of the actions taken by Combs in the surveillance video, also accuses the rapper of paying the hotel $50,000 for the footage. One of the rapper’s homes searched is in Holmby Hills, an affluent neighborhood where Combs bought a $40 million home a decade ago.
