Man Found Guilty of Sexually Abusing Elderly Woman in DeKalb County | News

Last week, a man was found guilty in a case of sexually abusing an elderly woman.

District Attorney Summer Summerford announced Monday that Donald Vester Robbins Jr. was found guilty by a DeKalb County jury Wednesday of sexual abuse after he molested an elderly woman who was incapacitated to consent.

A sentencing hearing will be held on June 12. Summerford said Robbins faces a statutory sentence of one year and one day to 10 years for first-degree sexual abuse, which is a Class C felony.

During the trial, Summerford said, the state presented evidence that Robbins subjected the elderly victim to sexual contact. The State also presented evidence that the victim was unable to consent to such sexual contact because she suffered from dementia.

This case was investigated by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

“We must take special care of the most vulnerable people in our community. “The older members of our community all helped us growing up,” Summerford explained. “Now is the time for us to take care of them.” It is reprehensible for someone to take advantage of an elderly person’s mental decline. My office will do everything we can to bring these individuals to justice.”
